OUR VISION

“Our vision is to have a socially relevant Niger Delta people who are sufficiently empowered economically, socially and physically to contribute to the development of the Nigeria Nation. To achieve this vision, we have recognized women as the primary development agents who would ensure the education of their children and subsequent inter-generational sustainability of their families and households”.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

“To bring about positive changes to the quality of lives of the most vulnerable group in the creek communities, particularly, women, youths and children through independent mobilization and development, with a firm belief in human rights and gender equality”.

OUR CORE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

With regards to our project plan for coastal region communities of Nigeria, especially Niger Delta area, CROWEF is responsibly positioned to implement a comprehensive development approach through its three core interdependent programs diagrammatically represented below:

croCROWEF / EWEF was born out of a divine calling by God, to reach out to those living in the creeks that have been forgotten, deprived and neglected in the area of development due to the terrain of their location. Even though the calling was tasking and challenging, our anchor rests on the trust we have in God: the Rewarder of all good works.

In order to alleviate the suffering of these most vulnerable people, as Niger Deltans who understand the terrain of the riverine communities, we took up visitation as our initial move/vision to reach out.
We have reached out to over sixteen communities in Niger Delta states and few communities Lagos State.

ESCRAVOS UGBORODO WOMEN EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION with the acronym (EWEF) was to carry out humanitarian works specifically in the Escravos Ugborodo communities.

When we realised that the needs / pains for creek communities are the same all over the world. We then registered a new name (WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION IN COASTAL REGION COMMUNITIES -CROWEF) to cover more operations. Government and its policies hardly gets to them even when God in His wonder plan of creation blessed us with resources that have changed the economy of most nations, for instance Niger Delta, with its oil rich communities has brought Nigeria into global recognition. With the first assignment of reaching out to all of the focused groups in Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Ilaje and the other settling groups in Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Lagos State both organizations were fully registered with Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria in July, 2007 and January 2009 respectively. Also, we have been registered with Ministry of Women Affairs of our host State (Delta State, Asaba) and Lagos State.

Within the short period of our existence, our commitment to do service to God and humanity has really helped us to affect lives of the less privileged in some of these creek communities. The efforts of the Board of Trustees, management staff and volunteers have gone a long way to determine the level of successes we have attained so far.

Having traversed the length and breadth of some of these creek communities, the first challenge and the immediate need of the people in these creek communities is provision of potable water. Recently, our partnership with Chevron Nig. Ltd. helped in bringing relief to some of these communities through the implementation of borehole water projects. The list of the communities requesting for this kind of project is endless, our prayer is that every individual and various organizations should be involved to address the ugly situation on our terrain.
